The Burrison Gallery Presents:

Beyond Exactitude: Works by Rob Mooij

Rob Mooij is a retired physicist. In physics, he finds beauty in those aspects of the world allowing for exact description. In painting, he’s drawn to portraiture, perhaps because it requires exactitude. In a portrait, subtle changes in shape or color can alter what’s expressed. A sign in his studio saying ‘perfection is boring’ reminds him to explore more broadly. He now embraces landscapes and is experimenting with abstraction. The works of artists like Soutine, Vuillard, Auerbach and Ann Gale inspire him. His website is: robmooijart.com
